This guide walks through the basics of creating a line item. For the full reference on Insertion Orders and Line Items, see Insertion Orders and Line Items.
Step 1: Create an Insertion Order
Navigate to "Insertion Orders" on the left side menu bar within your Ad Ops profile. Click the blue plus sign to create a new Insertion Order.
Give it a name and select the Type:
- Billable - for paid campaigns. Requires a Brand (Agency is optional but recommended).
- House - for internal promos, CTAs, or cross-promotion. No CPM, agency and brand are optional.
The type you set here applies to all line items within this Insertion Order.
If Billable, you'll need to create a Brand first (under "Brands" in the left menu). Name your brand, select an industry category, and save.
Step 2: Create a Line Item
Within your Insertion Order, click New Line Item in the top right corner to create a new line item. Name it and select "Standard" as the Line Item Type. Optionally, select a Subtype to help organise your line items.
Step 3: Set Up Flight(s)
Flights determine when your line item is available to run. Flights can be targeted by broadcast or standard ISO weeks or months, as well as a custom date with or without an end date. All options include day-of-week targeting. Select your flight and click "Save".
Step 4: Add AIP Positions
Click "Add Positions" or the blue plus sign to select which ad break positions to target within each series.
Your line item will not serve unless at least one position is selected at the series level.
Step 5: Select Series to Target
Click the blue plus sign in the "Content Targeting" card to select which series or network you'd like to connect to this line item. At least one series must be selected for your line item to serve ads.
There are extra settings within each Series, if needed. Including custom CPM value, Goal Type, episode specific targeting and custom positional targeting. But you can leave these if you just want to use the settings set on the main Line Item page.
Step 6: Upload Your Ad Creative
Click the blue plus sign on the "Ads" card, name your spot, then upload your audio file.
Once uploaded, be sure to click Publish in the blue banner at the top. You will automatically be brought back to your full campaign page to review your line item.
Step 7: Schedule Your Line Item
Click Schedule in the orange banner at the top. Your line item is ready to go and will turn active when your flight starts.
