You can target campaigns to specific listening platforms in order to reach your advertiser’s target audience. For example, you can target a podcast promo to devices using Apple Podcasts with a call to action to “Listen on Apple Podcasts.”
NOTE: If a feed is using Feedburner, Feedpress, another feed proxy service, platform targeting will not work.
To use listening platform targeting, navigate to the Platform Targeting card below the Geography card on the Campaign Detail page.
Click the edit pencil to make your selections.
By default, all listening platforms are selected, but you can select/deselect individual platforms.
Once you finish applying your targets and save the card, you will see them represented as inclusions or exclusions based on the fewest number of selections.
The ad server will deliver the campaign to devices that match ANY of the targeting criteria. If you are using platform targeting and device targeting simultaneously, the ad server will deliver the campaign to devices that match at least one target from BOTH targeting categories. For example, if you target iOS and Spotify, the campaign will ONLY deliver to Spotify listeners on iOS. Spotify listeners on Android or listeners using other podcast apps on iOS will not be eligible for this campaign.
Platform targeting changes appear in the Campaign Change History tool. For reference, adding an exclusion means you have NOT targeted the listening platform. Removing an exclusion means you have targeted the platform.
