You can target campaigns to specific device types in order to reach your advertiser’s target audience. For example, you can exclusively target iOS devices to promote an application that is only available on Apple’s mobile devices.
Note: device targeting is based on the user agent string captured when a listener downloads a podcast. Unfortunately, not all devices report their user agents properly, so accuracy may vary.
To use device targeting, navigate to the Device Targeting card below the Geography card on the Campaign Detail page.
Click the edit pencil to make your selections.
By default, all device types are selected, but you can select/deselect both device type categories (e.g. Smart Speakers) and individual device types (e.g. Amazon Alexa).
Once you finish applying your targets and save the card, you will see them represented as inclusions or exclusions based on the fewest number of selections.
The ad server will deliver the campaign to devices that match ANY of the targeting criteria. If you are using device and platform targeting simultaneously, the ad server will deliver the campaign to devices that match at least one target from BOTH targeting settings. For example, if you target iOS and Spotify, the campaign will ONLY deliver to Spotify listeners on iOS. Spotify listeners on Android or listeners using other podcast apps on iOS will not be eligible for this campaign.
Device targeting changes appear in the Campaign Change History tool. For reference, adding an exclusion means you have NOT targeted the device type. Removing an exclusion means you have targeted the device type.
