The Frequency card provides provides granular frequency capping controls at the campaign and brand level to improve listening experiences and reduce ad fatigue. Frequency can control the number of ads from a particular campaign and/or brand that can be inserted into a single episode download and the number of times an individual listener can receive an ad from the associated campaign.
Frequency Per Download
Frequency Per Download settings provide the ability to configure how many times the campaign or a brand can deliver within an individual episode download.
Campaign Maximum
Campaign Maximum defaults to 1 with a maximum setting of 10 and allows you to control how many times this campaign can deliver in a single download. If you upload multiple ad files to a campaign and increase the value, your campaign can deliver up to the specified amount in a single download. It’s important to note that you must have multiple ads if you would like the campaign to deliver more than once as the same ad file will never play twice within a single download. If the Campaign Maximum is set to 1, and you upload multiple ad files, they will simply rotate with each episode download.
Brand Maximum
With Brand Maximum you can choose how often your campaign's brand is included in a single download. Brand Maximum defaults to unlimited with additional settings of 1 through 10. It allows you to specify how many times campaigns from the specific brand used in this campaign can play within a single download. This is useful if you have multiple active campaigns featuring the same brand. If you have 5 campaigns in your ad ops profile from the same brand targeting the same content. Setting Brand Maximum to 1 will insure only one of these campaigns can deliver in a single download.
Frequency Per Listener
Frequency Per Listener allows you to control how many times a campaign can deliver to an individual listener over time.
Campaign Frequency
The Campaign Frequency setting provides ad ops user the ability to control how many times a campaign can deliver to an IAB defined listener in a user defined day based time frame. Users can set up to five rules with a maximum of 99 impressions and 30 days per rule. A longer duration rule must have impressions greater than or equal to existing shorter rules.
To enable Campaign Frequency, set the switch to Yes and populate your first rule. If you want to limit the campaign to 3 impressions per week per listener, set the max impressions drop down to 3 and the days drop down to 7.
If you’d like an additional rule to keep impressions capped at 10 per listener over a 30 day period, click on the Add Impression Cap button and set the max impressions and days accordingly.
Once saved if you have up to 2 rules they will display when the card is in view mode.
If you have more than two rules you will see “Enabled, multiple rules” when in view mode.
Please note that impression cap rules are implemented in a rolling fashion as opposed to a fixed calendar. This reduces calendar bias, applies caps using a more accurate approach than a fixed calendar, and aligns with ART19’s certified IABv2.1 measurement. As an example, a campaign with a single impression cap rule of 3 impressions per day delivers impressions to a unique user today at 5:00 AM, 6:00 AM, and 7:00 AM. As of 7:00.01 this user has reached their cap. They will not be eligible to receive an ad from this campaign until 5:00.01 AM the following day. If they were to receive an ad at 5:15 AM the following day, they would not be eligible for another ad until 6:00.01 AM, and so on.
