ART19 can provide insight into your audience size over a specific time range - this can be referred to as 'listeners', 'uniques' or 'unique listeners'. We use unique IP addresses and user agents to determine one 'listener' within a specific time period. This IABv2.2 certified metric is available in-app in Series Analytics and via custom reports.
Unique Listener measurement differs from downloads in that it relies on the given time frame. For example, if the same person, on the same device and IP address, listens once a day for a month this will show as one daily unique but also one monthly unique even though they have downloaded many times. Unique listeners can't be added together to get totals in the same way as downloads.
Unique listener reports are available in-app at the series or episode level. If you are interested in receiving a custom unique listeners report, please Contact Support.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why doesn’t the unique listener metric for the month match the sum of the daily unique listeners for the month?
A: A monthly (30-day) unique listener count will typically be lower than the sum of daily unique listeners because the same person listening on multiple days is counted once per day in daily metrics, but only once for the entire month in monthly metrics.
Q: Why don't my unique listener metrics match platform listener metrics (Apple, Spotify)?
A: Platform metrics are based on user accounts, while our metrics use IP and user agent combinations following IAB guidelines. This can lead to different counts.
Q: Why can't I see unique listeners beyond 31 days?
A: To improve accuracy, we limit unique listener measurement to 31 days. Changing IP addresses and user agents can affect metrics over time. For example, metrics may be affected by shared IP addresses such as office networks and listeners in the same household, changing IP addresses when users switch locations, and app updates that modify user agents.
