When creating a Line Item, Positional Targeting dictates which positions (e.g. Pre-Roll, Mid-Roll or Post-Roll) will be targeted.
Any combination of Pre, Mid and Post can be targeted at once. If you have more than one of the same type of marker you can also target use the Number setting to target just one of those, e.g. Pre-Roll 2. Within that position you can also use the Position setting to target one specific space within that marker.
In the example above the ad would only play in the second Pre-Roll in the second ad space.
Positional Targeting Defaults vs Positional Targeting
On the main Line Item page you will see Positional Targeting Defaults. These settings can be used to create default settings that will be cascaded down to all series that are added to this line item. This is particularly useful when adding multiple line items that require the same positional targeting.
Once a series is added to a line item in the Content Targeting card, it will take on the default settings, if there are any. You can then click into that specific series to find the Positional Targeting settings for that series only. These can be used if the individual series needs to target a different position to the others in the line item.
The Positional Targeting settings will override the Positional Targeting Defaults settings on the main page.
Making changes in bulk
It is possible to use Positional Targeting Defaults to change the settings for all series at once. To do this, make the required changes in the Defaults card, click Update & Close, and be sure to select Replace All when asked 'would you like to replace all series positional targets with these defaults?'.
Clicking Keep Existing Targets will leave current series as they are and apply the default settings to any new series added.
